Who can say how it happens? You’re having the time of your life, kicking back at your Villa Rental Puerto Vallarta, seeing the sights, loving the world. Then – bingo! – you’re homesick. You really want to spend a day doing things that are completely familiar to you; you want to go bowling, sing karaoke, see a show. And we say, “Go for it, big fella”.
Not so very far from home
The idea (and the pastimes) might not set the world on fire, but doggone it, you know what you want, and that’s that. Believe it or not, you can find many of the entertainments you know and love so well right here in Puerto Vallarta. It is a worldly place where the exotic rubs shoulders with what some might consider the commonplace. So check out these hometown adventures:
* Even though the sport isn’t hugely popular among the natives, Puerto Vallarta does have a modern Brunswick bowling alley near Marina Vallarta, called the Bowl-o-Rama. Tell your cab driver you are looking for “boliche” – he’ll know where to go.
* So you think you can sing (or maybe it’s the tequila talking)? Many visitors report that you can have a great time at La Regadera (the Shower), Morelos 666 in El Centro. They have a huge selection of tunes, plenty of screens that flash the words in large print, and lyrics in English and Spanish. Don’t be shy here – step up and belt out a song or two like you do when you scrub your nails. You can also catch Karaoke Night at Café Roma on Tuesday and Friday nights. This place gets rave reviews for the food and the atmosphere. Now, it appears that folks stop in for the karaoke as well, if the addition of another night’s vocal experience is any indication. You’ll find them near the Flea Market at Encino 287.
* When nothing will do but to spend an afternoon curled up with a huge box of popcorn enjoying your favorite big-screen characters, it’s time for a visit to one of Puerto Vallarta’s movie theatres. They feature new releases, some in English with Spanish subtitles, some in Spanish. Check the movie listings online to learn when your favorite is playing.
No matter how you decide to spend your days in Puerto Vallarta, you’ll come away with a unique experience and plenty of stories to share. So let the rest of the group embark from the Villa Rental Puerto Vallarta on some darned fool adventure or other; you enjoy your beer and bowling comfortable with the knowledge that you’re bowling in Mexico, and it’s special here
