Seychelles Luxury: Private Islands
The Seychelles are made up of a number of islands off the east coast of Africa. Surrounded by the aqua blue waters of the Indian Ocean with exotic flora & wildlife and perfect coral sand beaches, these extraordinary islands are all about romance and relaxation in luxury. La Digue, Mahe & Praslin are the 3 main islands; however, it is the private islands that provide the most luxurious form of escapism.
To experience everything the Seychelles has to offer, island hopping is definitely the best option. To take in the unique nature and wildlife fully, it’s best to spend a number of days on the beautiful and exotic Denis Island before moving on to the astoundingly luxurious Fregate Island.
Denis Island is bordered by perfect, deserted beaches and with no mobile phone service or motorised transport it represents true unspoiled luxury and relaxation. The island is home to some of the oldest Giant Tortoises and Denis Island pride themselves on the introduction of endangered native bird species to the island. You can stay in one of twenty five individual ocean view beach cottages all with their own private beachfront, four poster bed and en suite bathroom that opens up onto a private courtyard with outdoor shower. There are also deluxe cottages and 2 villas available; a family villa and the Villa Bois d’Argent which is ideal for honeymooners.
Once you have take in everything Denis Island has to offer, take the short helicopter journey to the astonishing Fregate Island. This luxurious destination is home to some of the world’s rarest plant life, a herd of wild giant tortoises and 14 different species of bird. The accommodation, Fregate Island Private, is as exotic as the wildlife with 16 stunning, Indonesian inspired villas built to blend in perfectly with the natural setting. These incredibly private residences all have a personal butler service, huge terrace with hot tub, a stunning infinity pool, daybed and outdoor dining pavilion. If you fancy a break from lounging on one of the seven beaches, you can check out the yacht club, dive centre or marina where you can take your pick of water sports or get pampered at the cliff top spa. There’s also two a la carte restaurants, the option to dine anywhere at any time, two bars and a gym.
Rightly so, Fregate Island Private was voted as the world’s best “Chic Retreat” last month by Harper’s Bazaar. For stunning natural beauty, wildlife and flora coupled with the most luxurious escapism, the Seychelles private islands are like nowhere else.
